Last weekend -oh my, forgive me for the tardy blogging! Ahem, last weekend we hosted the 2nd Annual October Chill Party and it was festive, wonderful and well attended.

The house was clean and the table was set for guests to arrive.
The dining experience was made possible by chips and salsa, (homemade-but easy) hummus and pita crackers, veggies, meat and cheese tray (thanks to Aaron's dad Jim for help cutting the cheese - no pun intended) and finally fruit kabobs with a lemon dip and oreo truffles.

And last but not least -- what party is complete without s'mores?
Look at the concentration as Jacob (Aaron's brother) showed how to properly roast the mallow.

We had a great time and missed you if you couldn't make it.
Such a blessing to be able to get together. We'll see you next year!

Good times had by all :)

We spent this Saturday socializing and enjoying cake and punch.
It was a beautiful day and really fun to go to our first wedding(s) as newlyweds!

Here are some highlights.
Aaron modeling the reception decor on his head.

Kids table!

Good talks and with no frosting! (Neither of us are really into frosting)

Be there or be a 4 sided equilateral shape that you don't want to be.

Last weekend we decided to tackle what we call "The Loft".
It is our TV room and my office and, as you can see, it had not so attractive decor.

We headed to Lowes and picked up our supplies.

Before painting we primed. Two coats of primer over the map wallpaper and the paneling.

We chose to do three colors in the room.

The back wall was safari sunset -- a warm yellowish. The other walls we painted the bottom (paneling) a light mossy brown. The top a darker brownish color.

TA DAA!

The room wasn't complete without new pillows and photos on the wall.
Oh, of course we had to have one map back in the room.

THE MIDDLE

THE END! WE DID IT!

What do you think?

To me, there is nothing that signifies that coming of autumn than the most darling pumpkins on the stoop.

And you can't beat funky squash on the table. Pretty now, tasty later!
Thanks Mom and Dad!

I planted mums in the pots near our front steps and today I added some pansies and such to bring out some colors.

We have a great area near the front of our house for flowers, but, its at the base of a tree and there are way too many roots to dig down and plant flowers. So, I planted two as an experiment and decided to group the pots as such.

I am learning a lot about planting and already getting excited for the spring!

What does it take to actually get your photos in frames and hung on the wall. Thanks to these incredible frames I found at Target today it was a cinch!

I'm telling you. I can visualize a photo wall, but heck if I can hang the frames correctly and, to be honest, I was afraid of putting my money into something I wasnt' sure was going to look the way I wanted.

Anyway! I've done it! Target sold these frames (I will source for you) that allow you to slip the photos in and out of a slot in the back.

As if thats not cool enough, each frame comes with a "template" with mini adhesives on the back that allows you to place your template on the wall where -- it even has a spot for where the nail goes. So, you temporarily stick the template on the wall, position the nail and go for it. When the nail is in you take down the template and hang the frame.

If you're wondering why the 3 frame loner is - well, a loner on the other wall, it was because there seemed to be some sort obstruction which hindered me from nailing it into its appropriate position.

Oh well, it worked out ok. I actually think it looks kind of abstract.

Here is the main grouping in all its beauty. The photos are from our honeymoon and I went to Kinkos and had the two largest ones printed today for $9.

Aaron is getting used to it. He did say it looked good :)
The best part is that when we want to change the photos it is really a cinch!

Thank you to the person who invented these frames.
I finally have my photo wall.

Last night was our first time grilling on the broilmaster. It was oh so easy, fun and delish! Aaron was head grillmaster.

His entree for the evening ... seasoned chicken with fresh garden tomatoes

with a side of rice, corn and black beans.

It is wonderful to have the grill up and running. Come join us, will ya?
We're having company on Friday night - 4 dudes - and you can bet we'll be grilling.

Isn't that the most beautiful mum?
Thanks Mom and Dad.

Not much, but I hope they feel appreciated. Aaron hopes he gets to make extra copies for free. :)
