Aaron's 26th Birthday

Aaron, Heidi and myself went to the Ethiopian restaurant last night to celebrate Aaron's birthday. We were the only ones there and, thankfully, this time they had enough food! (Last time we visited they had run out of food, eek)

The decor was simple. The mood was set by music similar to this...

Utensils were unnecessary - at least that's the vibe we got from our waitress when we asked for a fork. She looked at us like, "Just use your hands?!" S0 -- we did!

This was my (Laura) plate. Heidi and Aaron ordered lamb and I ordered the vegetarian option which included potatoes, carrots, lentils, collard greens.

Notice the bread like substance framing the food. It's called injera.

Injera is an Ethiopian flat bread that is very thin and somewhat crepe-like in appearance. Made from flour ground from teff, a grain cultivated in Ethiopia, the bread begins as a batter that is poured into a skillet and made into a round-shaped flexible flat bread that is baked only on one side.

Injera is a common accompaniment to evening meals in Ethiopia where it is used as a base on which other foods, such as meats, poultry, fish, or vegetables, are piled and then eaten. We brooke it apart and used it to wrap our food up and eat it.

Presents and CAKE!

Aaron had a ton of calls from his friends and family. As shown here, he is very excited for two new discs from his mom and dad.

Here are the cake highlights.

Our neighbor Michelle's birthday is also on Halloween so we walked across the alley and shared birthday cake with them.

Lastly we went to a scary movie - Quarantine. It was somewhat of a zombie movie and (I thought) quite scary. Here's the trailer if you care to see.

Thank you all for reading and for sharing in our adventures!
From both of us -- we love you!
